Monday Mood: Staying Positive When The Going Gets Tough.

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a good weekend and are ready to take control of a whole new week. ( 'hashtag' boss!). If you didn't catch last week's post, it was all about removing toxic people from your life.

Today's #MondayMood post is about staying positive when going through rough patches and when you are finding it difficult to look on the brighter side of things.

You can be identified as the person who never fails to smile or the sunniest and happiest person in the world, but when you are faced with challenges that seem beyond your control, it can be difficult to stay positive. Our problems can seem overwhelming but remember that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
Looking on the bright side will uplift your mood and pull you out of your misery and negativity and help you stay on top of your game.

Here are some simple ways you can stay positive when the going gets tough:

Think about what makes you happy. Over the past week, I was so swamped and stressed out with an event that a group of friends and I are putting together as part of a University assessment. We encountered a few problems which literally dragged our mood all the way doooown. We lost all motivation and found it difficult to remain positive about everything else.
On Friday, we were in the studio shooting our promo video for our event and it was honestly the best day ever. There was nothing but good vibes, laughter and just fun. It was as if everything we were feeling the day before had completely vanished and we were back to being bubbly and fun.
Personally, I was fed up with everything earlier on in the week but being around my friends and in front of the camera (which I love! hehe) and working with some extremely talented people just made me feel so much better.
Surround yourself with things OR people that make you happy, it can be ANYTHING. Whether it's your family or friends, listening to your favourite song or just getting involved in a hobby.

Focus on the good things. We tend to have this habit of thinking about all the negative and wrong things that have happened in our lives WHEN something seems to go wrong at that present time.
Don't let the darkness of your past haunt you and swallow you up. Focus on the light.
Count your blessings, not your curses.

Your goal. It is actually quite easy staying positive when you are working towards something you are passionate about. Remind yourself of your goals at all times and think about where you are going, rather than where you currently stand.

Find your mantra. It could be a quote and/or motivational video. "I can do this" or "good things are coming my way" are positive affirmations that you can repeat to yourself silently whenever you feel like your world is crumbling down.

Vent. I'm the perfect example of someone that bottles up all her emotions and eventually explodes! Thankfully, I'm slowly changing and getting more comfortable with talking it out and venting to someone, usually to my best friend or boyfriend.
There's no harm in venting to someone you trust and know will support you no matter what. It honestly feels so good when you've finally got it all out there!

Stop the comparisons. Comparing yourself to someone else will only make you feel unhappy and less appreciative of what you have. It distracts you from what you are meant to be focusing on which is YOU. Channel your energy into making changes that will benefit your lifestyle.

Like I mentioned above, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. It may be difficult to believe this during our rough patches but it does exist and there is hope. Change your way of thinking and remain strong because you've gaaaats this! ;)
